World Teachers’ Day- A Day to Pay Tribute to our Guide

The World Teachers’ Day is noticeably celebrated worldwide on 5th October every year and the UNESCO initiates celebrating this day as it is the time to cherish the contribution of the teachers. The teachers’ organizations are acknowledged worldwide due to their support as well as effort to make the globe a better place to live. The objective of celebrating this day is to continue the support for the teachers. On the other hand, through the celebration of this day, the conducive support of the teachers gets ensured for the next generation.
Based on the "Recommendation concerning the status of teachers" adopted in 1994 by the UNESCO, 5th October has been officially mentioned as the World Teachers' Day. Before, Teachers' Day was celebrated diversely in the countries across the world. In India, the teachers’ day is celebrated on 5th September every year. On that day, Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan was born and to remember his contribution to our society, his birthday is celebrated as a teachers’ day. On the other hand, in Turkey, the Teachers' Day is celebrated on 24th November. This day is celebrated as the teachers’ day to remember the contribution of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, who said that "the new generation will be created by teachers." Additionally, 11th September is celebrated as the Teachers’ day in Argentina. The day is referred as the Teachers’ day to show admiration to Domingo Faustino Sarmiento's.
The Education International or EI takes care of the celebration of the World Teachers’ Day. Almost 100 countries around the world commemorate this day. The EI, along with the 401 member organizations put their best to make this day eventful as well as remarkable. On that day, EI initiates a public awareness campaign every year. This day is distinctly celebrated worldwide to show respect to the teachers due to their support and contribution in developing the countries. A teacher is not only an instructor or mentor, but he is a guide, friend and philosopher. Only teachers know how to bring out the best in each student.
On the Teachers’ day, students usually give gifts, flowers to their beloved teachers and get wishes and blessings from them. Students share their feelings and love by giving the handmade cards and notes to their teachers. The flowers placed on the desk of the teachers bring a smile in their faces and make their eyes wet. In many countries, a one day event is organized at the schools. Students take part in the dance performances, sing songs or do plays. In brief, on that day the daily scholastic routine life is not followed and both students and teachers share a very unique camaraderie.
