CBSE Syllabus for Class 9

CBSE stands for Central Board of Secondary Education which was set up by NCERT. The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) set CBSE with the major aim of running central schools chain which are run for the government employees who are working in transferable jobs which also involves even movements in mid – year. Even private schools are also now affiliated to CBSE because in private sector employees even are also moving from place to place for their jobs. The syllabus that is been offered by the CBSE is structured, predictable, controlled and also organized in a proper manner. To keep the content advanced in accordance to knowledge of the students, the curriculum is timely revised and then updated accordingly. With time passing knowledge is spreading everywhere and so education is getting vast. For being up to date with changing time, the curriculum is also revised timely to cover and include records of events occurring and advancements required with increase in educational value.

The updating of curriculum by the CBSE can be done either yearly or in a gap of few years. This depends on the events occurring in the world and the affect they had on the already set content topics covered in it, the new additions required to be made as new things in educational structure are achieved, or anything that is now of not much importance and is to be left out for betterment of educational knowledge of the students. The syllabus is set for all classes from 1st to 12th.

The whole syllabus of CBSE in India is set in such a way that an average child is able to learn all the stuff included in the syllabus without heavy burden on the student. If the basics of a student are not strong and solid and thorough then the student is not able to perform well in further classes. With advancement in education, the practical and applicative knowledge of contents included in the syllabus set by CBSE is stressed on more so the student is able to make judgments on where and how he or she can apply his or her knowledge, to what extent knowledge is applicable, also that it is even applicable or not etc. this is all done along with the proper theoretical knowledge given to students so that they also know the logic behind things. CBSE also conducts board exams under AISSCE (All India Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination) in every spring at the end of term of 10th and 12th classes. The CBSE class ix syllabus also lies under board syllabus class and is set and followed throughout all CBSE affiliated schools in India for class 9.
The CBSE 9 class syllabus is laid down by CBSE and is common for all CBSE affiliated schools and boards for class 9. The subjects which have been offered in class 9th syllabus CBSE are Science, Mathematics, Social Science, English, HGEP, Hindi, Sanskrit.

The subject Science of class 9th syllabus CBSE includes the topics study of food and types, materials used for example in clothes, about atoms, about the biological diversities, knowledge of moving of substances, knowledge of the moving things, characteristics of people and ideas, about work, energy, floatation, various natural phenomena. Some knowledge about the natural resources as well is included. Basically the topics are divided in three categories of Physics, Chemistry and Biology and are studied separately under each section.

The Mathematics subject covers the topics: solving of equations and their real life application uses, introduction to trigonometry, geometry (circles, triangles, hyperbolas, parabolas, quadrilaterals, etc.), constructions of triangles, quadrilaterals etc., measurement on the basis of real world applicative knowledge, etc. All of these topics form a strong base for future learning. Only the basics of these topics are explained along with their application in real world. Problems related to real life problems are stressed on more to improve practical knowledge of student.

The social science section consists of history of the world, basics of political science, parts of economic theory and knowledge about geographical structure of the world in brief. All these sections are sub divided into various topics of consideration for a class 9 student consisting of basics to what the student might have to study in higher classes under these sections or subjects separately.

The languages English and Hindi stresses much on writing abilities like letters of different kinds(formal, informal, personal, resignations, appointments, various applications etc.), articles, notices, passages, story writing etc. These are very important to learn because they are of daily practice throughout the lifetime of an individual. The Sanskrit is included in languages with basics of it since it can become a good career option for some students mostly in teaching and education fields. This is an subject generally with Hindi, this means the student make a choice in between Hindi or Sanskrit and choose any one of them to study in class 9th term.
The CBSE helps by providing sample papers that are based on the CBSE class 9th syllabus. The students can also get previous years’ class 9 papers to practice more. The sample papers and exam papers are both constructed on the basis of 9th class CBSE syllabus only. They help a student to know the exam structure he or she has to undertake in finals and even in mid terms. As the CBSE syllabus for higher grades is more application based, so are the papers provided for helping students to practice more and make their self evaluation.

To conclude, we can say that since CBSE class ix syllabus is same throughout the country, it has helped a lot to persons in transferrable jobs whose children study in CBSE affiliated schools so that they can work and move from place to place without any loss of studies of their children (even in middle of the term). The common syllabus of 9th CBSE syllabus is applicable at all CBSE and its affiliated schools. This practice of common study material taken up also helps in eradicating discrimination that is made on the basis of things other than knowledge of a student may it be caste, religion, financial status etc. In a way, the CBSE 9 class syllabus is helping in advancement and betterment of the society and our country.
