CAREER OPTIONS - MERCHANT NAVY

Career is the course or the occupation which one does for the professional achievements. Choosing the right career is the most vital decision in student’s life after completion of 12 or the graduation. Choosing the right career depends upon the student’s interest, there are many career courses which are offered for the students in many institutions where they can choose their own options, few examples of career courses other than medical and engineering we have  Biotechnology , Micro biology , Accountancy , Aeronautical engineering , Merchant navy ,etc.
Merchant navy is the branch of nation’s armed forces designated for the operations in sea or oceans. The main function of merchant navy deals with ships, cargo, submarines and to protect the sea lane by sea attackers or by sea enemies. Career options in merchant navy are as follows:
  • Captain of the ship
  • Navigating officers
  • Chief officer
  • Sub officer
  • Assistant officer
  • Marine engineer
  • Plant engineer
  • Chief engineer
  • Chief engineer
  • Sub engineer
  • Assistant engineer
  • Deck cadets
  • Radio officers
  • Electrical officers
There are number of shipping companies both in government and private sector which provide the career courses in merchant navy along with the training followed by the placement, once we get qualified and will be rewarded, few institutes prepare the students for job such as deck cadets, marine engineering jobs, etc. Other opportunities for promotions are depended on clearing the competency exams which are conducted by the government.   

A Career in the merchant navy requires the graduates with the strong and tough physical form; it also includes sporting, adaptive, willing to take tough responsibilities, very bold, ready to face adventures and challenges, be prepared for higher positions, love to work in team, should work with team spirit. A merchant navy should have the complete knowledge on different machines, ready to work with their co worker during emergency.
